The 6th National Conference on Environmental Chemistry (NCEC 2011) is held on September 21-24, 2011, in Shanghai. Some teachers of our college led by Professor Xiangyang Wu, dean of school of the environment, Jiangsu University, attend the conference.
The biennial conference is organized by Chinese Chemical Society Division of Environmental Chemistry and jointly hosted by Shanghai Normal University, Fudan University and Shanghai Jiaotong University. The theme of NCEC 2011 is “Environmental Chemistry and Sustainable Development”.
More than 1600 participants, including about 20 Academicians from the Chinese Academy of Science, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the United States, Canada and other countries, attend the meeting. 11 teachers and 3 graduates from our college take part in the splendid and warm conference. Professor Mario J Molina (Nobel Laureate and member of U. S. National Academy of Sciences), Professor Jerry Schnoor (member of U. S. National Academy of Engineering and editor of one of the international top journals in Environmental Science and Engineering field, Environmental Science & Technology), Dr. Hugh A. Tilson (Editor of Environmental Health Perspectives, EHP) and other distinguished scientists are invited to give plenary lectures. Professor Daolin Du and Dr. Hui Xu from our college also give a lecture in the parallel session, respectively. During the conference, Dean Wu and Professor Guibin Jiang (member of Chinese Academy of Science and associate editor of ES&T) and other relevant specialists engage in an in-depth exchange of views on our college’s scientific research, subjects and disciplines development and also reach a preliminary common understanding on invitation of relevant specialists to visit our college. In addition, our faculties carry on extensive exchange with domestic and foreign scholars and colleagues through wall newspaper, meeting and other activities.
Not only does this conference widen the research vision of our relevant teachers, but it also will strongly promote the construction and development of our first-level discipline in Environmental Science and Engineering.
